Mrs. Lillie Mae (Richert) Patrick, passed away Monday, September 26th, 2011 in Jasper, GA. at Heritage Healthcare. She was 85 years old, just 10 days shy of her 86th birthday. She was born in New Albany, Indiana on October 6, 1925 to her late parents Henry Conrad Richert and Ella Florence (Kintner) Richert Ward. She was a member of Gates Chapel United Methodist Church, Ellijay, Georgia, at the time of her death. She is preceded in death by Rev. Osa Patrick husband of 65 years, three sisters, and six brothers. Mrs. Patrick was a graduate of New Albany (IN) High School, class of 1944. On September 8, 1945 she married Rev. Osa Edward Patrick of Hazel Green, Kentucky and New Albany, Indiana. Rev. Patrick was a retired United Methodist minister who passed away on December 23, 2010. Mrs. Patrick worked many jobs and contributed greatly to the union. She worked while Rev. Patrick was in school studying to become a minister. When he was appointed to churches in Indiana and in Georgia, Mrs. Patrick worked along side of her husband performing secretarial duties and supported him and the churches in many ways. Later in life, at the age of 46 she returned to school at Prosser Vocational School and became a nurse, which was a lifelong dream of hers. She was employed at Community Hospital East, Indianapolis, Indiana until her retirement in 1986.At that time she and Rev. Patrick moved back to Ellijay, Georgia, and he retired from the ministry. The couple had previously lived in Ellijay during the 1960's. Survivors include their children and spouses: Donald E. (Vicki) Patrick of Ellijay, Georgia; Linda S. (John) Turner of Brownsburg, Indiana; and Rebekah M. Shirey of Indianapolis, Indiana; nine grandchildren and nineteen great grandchildren. Logan Funeral Home of Ellijay, Georgia is in charge of the arrangements. Funeral will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday morning, October 1st, 2011 at Logan Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Sharon Watkins and Rev. Adam Mathis officiating, music and song by Diane Horsley. Graveside interment service will follow in the Gates Chapel United Methodist Cemetery. Pallbearers will be her grandchildren and great grandchildren Corey Henn, Jacob Shirey, Mark Patrick, Tommy Patrick, Todd Turner, Benjamin Turner, Brad Turner, Mark Stowers, Jonathan Mayfield, Don Torrance, and Matthew Turner. Family will receive friends beginning at 4:00 p.m. Friday, September 30th, 2011 at Logan Funeral Home. Flowers are being accepted or donations may be made to Gates Chapel United Methodist Church Fund, c/o Carl Hill, 2937 Gates Chapel Rd., Ellijay, GA. 30540 in memory of Mrs. Patrick.
