Ms. Flora Estelle Southern Davis, age 94 of Ellijay, GA, passed on Sunday evening, October 2nd, 2016 at the Atlanta Medical Center. Ms. Davis was born on March 22, 1922 in Gilmer County to her late parents Johnson Elijah and Ina Arminda Ralston Southern. She was a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, a graduate of Gilmer High School, Class of 1939, and worked as a sales clerk at Thomas and Hall Pharmacy for 39 years. Ms. Davis is preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Davis, sisters, Tamer Southern, Audell S. Reece and brothers Coy, Blumer, Elmer, and Raymond Southern. Survivors include son, Winston William Davis of Alpharetta, GA and grandchildren William, Jacob, and Hannah Davis. Funeral services will be held at 11am on Thursday, October 6th, 2016 from the Logan Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Edmund Miller and Suell Reece Austin officiating. Music and vocals will be by David and Tammy Nicholson, Loy Jarrett, and Dr. Thomas Jarrett. Interment will follow in the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church Cemetery with Jimmy Logan, Danny Logan, Jerry Logan, Doug Hall, John Thomas, Michael Key and Johnathan Southern serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Suell Austin, Melba and Steve Mabry, Betty and Loy Jarrett and family, Johnny and Eurilla Hyatt and family, the Emma Dye family, Fred Davis family, Herman Davis family, Juanita Milam and family, the Mildred Barie family, Shirley Goedart, the Marlene Starks family, Ed and Ann Casey, Danny Hall and family, Lisa and Joe Mabry, Branson and Jill Chastain, Dan and Tamer Southern, James and Wanda Southern, Vera Southern, Sheila and Richard Croy, Dorothy Jo Southern, Shelvia Garland, Vicki and Bill Nordmark, Claude and Betty Chastain and Billy Ray Southern. Family will receive friends from 4pm until 8pm on Wednesday, October 5th, 2016 at the Logan Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, 115 Pleasant Grove Road, Ellijay, GA 30540 in memory of Ms. Davis.
