Mr. Avery Brown Farist age 87, of the Yukon Community, Ellijay, GA. passed from this life on Monday, November 22, 2010 from the St. Joseph Hospital in Atlanta, GA. He was a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church, born February 19, 1923 to his late parents Joe Brown Farist and Jennie Avery Evans Farist in Ellijay, Gilmer County, GA. He was a farmer at heart with a peach orchard, a labor man, and a skilled welder. He was owner and operator of Farist Refrigeration, working with air conditioning, refrigeration, and heating. Mr. Farist was a veteran, and served in the U.S. Army during WWII. He is preceded in death by his wife Lee F. Farist and son Jimmy C. Farist. Survivors include daughters and sons-in-law Johnny Fay and Danny Griffin of Pace, FL, Rosalee and Tony Moss of Jasper, GA.; daughter-in-law JoEllen Farist of Alpharetta, GA.; grandchildren Michael Joe Griffin, Jennifer Clayton, Steven Moss, Amanda Silvers, and Chris Moss; great grandchildren Austin Clayton, Daniella Moss, and Owen Thomas Moss; sister Clara Farist Mulkey of Ellijay, GA.; brother Cecil Farist of Marietta, GA.; special friends Scott and Tammy Reed of Jasper, GA., and Lynn Champion of Ellijay, GA. Funeral services will be at 2:00 P.M. Sunday, November 28th, from the Turniptown Baptist Church with Rev. Paul Richards and Rev. Danny Townsend officiating. Graveside interment service will follow in the Turniptown Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Michael Joe Griffin, Steven Moss, Chris Moss, Scott Reed, Curtis Clayton, Austin Clayton, Michael Silvers and Dennis Teems. Family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. Saturday, November 27th at Logan Funeral Home and Chapel.
